Today’s Herald says it sold.
“Not even the hardiest of Australian film actors have been able to weather the downturn in the pub sector.
The Breaker Morant star, Jack Thompson, his son Patrick and two other partners have sold the Hotel Gearin in Katoomba for $1.925 million. They purchased the nine-pokie, 24-hour liquor-licensed Art Deco watering hole for $4.2 million in 2005.
On the pub’s website, Thompson said it was ”his passion for Australia and its culture and history that attracted [him] to the Hotel Gearin”.
