New Speed Limits for Leura
Transport NSW has announced speed limits in Leura Mall and surrounding streets will be reduced from 50km/h to 40km/h. The reduced speed makes sense considering the large number of pedestrians, often seemingly oblivious of car traffic.
The new limits will take effect when signposted over the next fortnight.

I think that the roads and people should be kept safe and therefore appreciate any move to improve safety.
However, the angle parking lower down in the village is another situation. There are 2 parking which, I found out the hard way, are reverse parkings. The parkings are in amongst conventional parkings and therefore not obvious, especially the parking is also used in the conventional direction. I do not see the purpose of this and believe the signs are not adequate. We were not the only unfortunate people to have had the privilege of a priceless encounter with the local law enforcement.
The experience of visiting Leura was pleasant, but the massive fine I received has left an unpleasant taste. In future we will be looking elsewhere.
